The Dog Days

Are Just Getting Started

There are few things in this world more wonderful, adorable, and fluffy than huskies.

All my life I have wanted a brother from another pupper, a fur baby, a good boy. I love dogs so much, but never really had enough time to actually settle down and get one. So, when I heard that there was a magical cafe in Bangkok where you can run free with tens of huskies I just about lost my mind.

Of course I did my due diligence first. After all, Bangkok is home to many unethical, questionable animal exploitation acts all riding on the interest of tourists. Elephants are caned and ridden, tigers are all drugged up for photos, and every cute creature you can think of you can probably hold. Just because you want to snuggle a koala doesn't always mean they want that too (I have to remind myself of this frequently). But, the True Love Cafe takes care of its animals. The dogs are well fed, groomed, and managed. The play yard and kennels are clean and large. They have a woman "Momma" who cares deeply for them and it shows.

Luckily, Yard Hostel where I was staying was nearby. The cafe is located in the Ari neighborhood of Bangkok which is great to walk around. When you arrive (go early they fill up fast) you will be given a number and sorted into groups. The whole cost of a ticket was 300 bhat which is $9.57 USD (so cheap!). When your number is called you are brought into their cute cafe where you get a free colorful fruit juice and a slice of cake. I chose strawberry shortcake and passionfruit juice and it was seriously fresh and delicious.

When your playtime arrives you are shown a video explaining the safety and wellness steps you have to take to interact with the puppers. You will need to remove your shoes and put on little booties so you aren't dragging in any weirdness off the streets that can hurt the dogs. They have you wash your hands before and after too. Cleanliness is key.

After that you are home free! I was petting all the pups, smiling ear to ear and generally having the time of my life.

You get to play for a full hour with them as well as get your picture taken with all of them. All in all it was a wonderful experience that I would recommend to anyone who had a deep love for puppers on their journey through Bangkok!
